Morwell girl in Sydney Trying to help

February 17th, 2009 by Cheryl Jackson

I have sent this to my friends in Sydney…it hard sometimes being a Gippsland Girl (from Morwell) and watching such sadness and wanting to help. This was the only way that I knew how from Sydney.

Hi, being my friend you will know that I am from Gippsland in Victoria on where there have been terrible bush fires for two weeks in a row near my family home (Morwell) Last weekend my cousins who live in Churchill were surrounded by bushfire and some were evacuated. As I can’t be down home and feeling hopeless (being here in Sydney) the only way I can think to help in any way is to send the Gippsland Fire Relief fund web site on were you can donate if you wish. There is no pressure of course as there are so many people in the whole of Victoria that have experienced terrible pain and devastation you may have donated else where, It has been a very sad couple of weeks for country Victoria.

If you wish to forward this email to friends and family please do.

To my Family and Friends down home……I hope this helps in some way!

PS the koala (Sam) that the fire fighter is giving water too was taken in Mirboo Nth Gippsland, check it out, just another fire fighter hero doing a days work!

thinking of you all

February 13th, 2009 by Sherrina

Born and raised in Sale, the memories of Ash Wednesday remain. To think it has happened again in a worse way and that you are all still battling firefronts is heartbreaking. I hope that the fight is uneventful and easily won from hereon out. May the power of all that is good and kind in the universe bring you the strength, peace and healing you need. I am with you in spirit because I can’t be there in person, hoping to be part of the rebuilding process soon. Good luck and Godspeed to you all.

I’m in the UK. We are horrified by the terrible events and just want people to know that others around the world are thinking of them. We can’t do anything practical from this distance but we have made a donation via Paypal (great idea to have the paypal facility by the way).
